I've kind of decided of trying to host a ZNC bouncer myself after being shilled so hard about it on #nerds, but turns out it's nowhere near as simple as the one I was already using, even though compiling it was a breeze while on tilde.cafe.
Cons
* 1: connecting through multiple networks is easy on the bouncer-side, not so from the client-side (weechat complains on too many reconnections and aborts) * 2: the configuration file is written in XML instead of a sufficiently sane format * 3: adding channels to networks is nowhere near practical, because right after the user jumps irc networks, everything gets messed up.
Pros
* 1: at least there's integration with irc clients, but it's not usually built-in for obvious reasons. * 2: web interface is "passable"
ZNC is way too complex for me to even bother, I don't even get the point of those people. I won't be sacrificing the simplicity I already have for ZNC at all, ever again.
